Happy National Book Lovers Day! 📚

In honor of today, here are the last 15 books I've recently read. I wrote a short opinion for each book and a star rating from 1 - 5. Click on the title of each book for more information. Let me know which books you've read, and if you have any recommendations for me! ❤️

  1. Option B by Sheryl Sandburg (non-fiction): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I loved Sheryl Sandburg's book "Lean In" and "Option B" did not disappoint me. I was on the waiting list for awhile and once I finally got it from the library, I was going through some stuff and this book helped me. Everyone has some aspect in life that has not gone as planned. This book will help you move on to Option B.

  2. Essentialism by Greg McKeown (non-fiction): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is a great book! It's like the "Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up" by Marie Kondō but for your life instead of your stuff.

  3. The Fate of the Tearling by Erika Johansen (fiction, series, book #3): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I was so excited for the third and final installment of the Tearling trilogy. The whole series is magical and I don't want to give too much away! I heard it's going to be a movie with Emma Watson. Yay!!

  4. On Fire: The 7 Choices to Ignite a Radically Inspired Life by John O'Leary (non-fiction): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A great memoir by John O'Leary who was severely burned in an accident when he was a child. I recommend you read it!

  5. Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick (memoir): ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Anna Kendrick is funny and I enjoyed hearing about her life.

  6. Originals by Adam Grant (non-fiction): ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I really enjoyed the beginning and middle of this book about how people cultivate new ideas and bring them to life. However, by the end I felt he was just repeating the same things over and over.

  7. Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon (fiction, YA): ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A quick Young Adult book that I enjoyed reading. Now I need to see the movie!

  8. You by Caroline Kepnes (fiction, thriller): ⭐⭐⭐⭐ This book is told through the perspective of Joe Goldberg, a dark and witty stalker. I was enthralled with Joe's mindset and reasoning. It's dark but it was entertaining. (Mature content)

  9. Hidden Bodies by Caroline Kepnes (fiction, book #2): ⭐⭐⭐⭐ This book takes place after the book You (see above). (Mature content)

  10. Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown (non-fiction): ⭐⭐⭐ It took me awhile to get into this book but overall it was pretty good and I learned a lot. It's a historical look into the American Olympic Row team in Nazi Germany.

  11. The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena (fiction, thriller): ⭐⭐⭐ I enjoyed this book but it was predictable at times. A couple's baby is kidnapped when they are at a party at their neighbor's house.

  12. Harvesting the Heart by Jodi Picoult (fiction, drama): ⭐⭐ Jodi Picoult is a talented writer and I like most of her books. This story wasn't my favorite but it still had some high-points. The story focuses on surviving motherhood.

  13. The Girls by Emma Cline (fiction): ⭐⭐ This book was a look into how a girl was sucked into a cult. It sounds exciting enough but it had several slow moments.

  14. Don't Breathe a Word by Jennifer McMahone (fiction): ⭐⭐ This book was . . . interesting. It is a quick read about mystery and fairytales intertwined with the real world. It did keep me guessing because I didn't know what was real or not! lol

  15. Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty (fiction): ⭐ I needed a book to read after I read "Big Little Lies" by Liane Moriarty so I picked up this book by her. The book leads up to a certain event and then it just fizzles. Not my favorite.
