Recently I haven't had an extra moment to blog, but Sunny's first birthday needs to be documented on here! When I first saw the birthday theme, First Chapter, I knew I was going to use it for Sunny’s birthday. It is the prefect combination of sentimental and whimsy. We own so many children’s books, the girls pretty much have their own little library. Plus, anytime I see a stuffie for a book character, I have to buy it. I found the perfect children’s poetry books at the thrift store to use for the book page wall behind Sunny’s cake smashes. (Yes, we did two cake smashes because she loved her first one so much, and of course I’m always fine with taking more photos. Plus I made her little smash cakes so it was easy to make one more). I felt slightly guilty for ripping out book pages, but it was out of love. As a nod to her “golden birthday” (she turned one on the first), I also laid out Little Golden Books on the table.
I actually ordered custom cookies from a local baker who had to cancel, so I booked another baker . . . who also cancelled on me the day before Sunny’s party. I called Hy-Vee to see if they could make a custom cake on late notice, and they did! I am so happy with how her adorable First Chapter cake turned out.
Sunny woke up with a little cold on the day of her birthday but she was still so smiley and happy at her party. We love our Sunday Marie more than words can express, and are beyond honored we were able to witness her first chapter. I can’t wait to “read” chapter after chapter of her life with her. She is such a blessing!
