As soon as we found out we were expecting, we really wanted to know if we were having a boy or girl. So we decided to have the blood test taken when I was 10 weeks along. Isn't it amazing that they can tell the baby's gender from just taking my blood??
I knew our gender reveal would involve flowers. #miraclespringbaby I wanted to keep it simple + classy so I put the flowers from our announcement photos onto a round white cake. I dipped oreos into pink and navy melting chocolate, and picked up flowers from Hy-Vee. I found the cute box at HomeGoods + filled it with flowers from Michaels Craft Store. When I was shopping for the flowers I felt a little paranoid that I would see someone I knew and they would see all of these blue flowers and the secret would be out! 😂
They had told us we would get the results within 2 weeks. We had the reveal scheduled with our immediate family a couple days past the 2 weeks mark to make sure we would have the results. The doctor's office called me exactly one week after the test and they already had the results! Michael and I were so excited to find out. We opened the envelope and pulled out papers and papers of blood work results. We got through all of the pages and hadn't seen Male or Female! It took us at least 5 minutes to find it hidden among all of the other information. 😂It felt so surreal when we finally saw that XY chromosomes were detected which meant BOY! We had been referring to our baby as a girl the whole time. 😂
It was pretty hard keeping it a secret from the rest of the world for a whole week, especially since most people were also convinced we were having a girl. We had the ultimate secret and it felt great to finally share the news!
