colette's closet | valentine's day

"When someone else's happiness is your happiness, that's love." (Lana Del Rey)

You’ve found the perfect card on Pinterest, bought some decadent chocolate at Target and made dinner plans for this weekend of love. You are looking forward to spoiling your loved ones and maybe getting spoiled a little bit yourself too. ;)

Now, last but not least, you need to figure out what you will be wearing. Whether you’re spending this Valentine’s Day with bae, friends, family or all of the above, you will need the perfect outfit to complete your lovey-dovey festivities.

Start with the essentials~ lipstick and nail polish in pink or red hues.

Then the hard part.

This is me deciding what to wear on Valentine's Day (and every other day of the week) . . .

1. If you want to be stylish AND comfy, you should throw on a poncho or blanket scarf with leggings. Add a belt around your waist if you go the scarf route. This ensemble is perfect for a movie night, ice-skating, or even cooking together at home. P.S. I seriously love ponchos and hope they are in style FOREVER. {Tan poncho: Gift. Plaid poncho: Wet Seal. Leggings: H&M}.

2. If you really want to embrace the day of LOVE, you should take one of your shirts with a heart or anything that reminds you of amour on it (you can't go wrong with PARIS). Pair this with a skirt and heels to dress it up for work, a night at the theater or sipping lattes. Add a pink or burgundy jacket if your top is short-sleeved. {Born to Love sweater, Skirt, Jacket: Forever 21. Paris shirt: White House Black Market. Heels: Wet Seal}.

3. Lastly, you can't go wrong with a LBD. I'm loving this criss-cross v-neck with an angled hem. I'm always cold so I paired it with leather leggings. This is perfect for a fancy dinner downtown with your boo. {Dress: Wet Seal. Leggings: Forever 21}.

Once you've figured out your outfit, it's time to relax, have fun, and eat a cookie (or two).

{This gorgeous, glittery, yummy cookie was made by The Girl in the Red Apron}.

P.S. I really hope you are able to spend time with your loved ones this February!

Remember, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness." Jeremiah 31:3

Happy Valentine's Day!

xoxo~
